my access rider
(how I like to work)
My access needs and preferences change as much as my body does, please check back in on this page every 6 months or so even if you’ve already read it. Thank you <3
Communication:
Lots of dense text is challenging for me to take in quickly. I really appreciate crucial info to be highlighted,in bold or in a different colour. I love colour coding.
I don’t expect emails to be formal, feel free to type how you would speak, emojis welcome!
I love voice notes / hearing your tone
I’m happy to meet via zoom but prefer phone calls
If something has gone wrong I’d prefer to meet in person or over a call rather than read feedback via email
I am full time freelance and my working hours / days regularly change, please highlight in your email header if my response is time sensitive
My commitments to you:
To listen with care and presence
To be held accountable
To be an ally and an advocate for your lived experience
To prioritise and protect your wellbeing and joy
To work towards better futures with you
This space is for me to share my access needs and preferences with people I work with. I share it so that we can discuss how collaborating can feel as good as possible. If you don’t have an access rider and would like support creating one I can recommend the template provided here written by Unlimited.
Useful to know // lived experiences that are underrepresented in the sector:
I am a non binary person who uses they/them pronouns
I have multiple chronic illnesses that primarily manifest as pain and fatigue
I am autistic and ADHD
I have a low income background and money is still a regular barrier for me as a freelancer
I have caring responsibilities that require some flexibility in my hours
Meetings, events and travel:
Sometimes it's necessary for me to change my meetings to virtual on the day
Sometimes I take zoom meetings from bed
I really love to have meetings outside or on walks
I’m based in Bristol but like to travel
I don’t have access to a car.
At events I appreciate gender neutral bathrooms and quiet spaces to be signposted
