Why am I starting this museum

I’m Sid (they/them) and I started this museum because I want to create ease and kindling for people stepping away from the systems that harm them. I am so grateful for every person, book, episode of telly, birdsong and meal that has sparked permission for me to let go of narratives that don’t serve me, communities or the planet. As a White, English speaking person living in the Global North I know there is a lot more for me to shed. As I learn and adapt, the temporal anomaly museum is my way of visibilising different ways of doing things and advocating for the dismantling of White supremacy and systemic injustice.

If you are feeling like you might need to leave the workplace because of illness, overwhelm, family conflict, grief and sadness and would like to talk to someone about it, I’m very open to sharing how leaving traditional work has felt so far and how I’ve tried to navigate it. Let me know xxx

Background

I have been working in the creative sector for the past 6 years and before that I worked in mental health. My twenties so far has mainly been about supporting institutions to be more accessible, inclusive and kind. In 2025 I realised my brain and body weren’t designed to keep up with the pace of working in an organisation and so I began to build a practice that moved at a different pace.

Now in an average week I:

  • wake up everyday at around 7 and spend at least 30 minutes watching the birds with my tea

  • apprentice 2 days a week for a ceramicist

  • read a lot about mud and building with mud

  • sit on an advisory board for Big Team

  • sit with my cat

  • Co-chair the board of Trustees for Deptford X

  • Watch midsommer murders

  • text my friends pictures of the moon

  • facilitate groups who want to build better worlds

  • go to the GP

I am still recovering from burn out and trying to work out what that looks like alongside making money. So far, I love it.
